Armor :: Gothic

An armour made in the late 15th century gothic style. This style was popular in Germany in the 1480s.

This armour was built in stages and I continue to work on and modify it. This photograph is from January of 2009.

The same armour as above. Made of mild steel for the Neiman Marcus Christmas 2004 catalogue.

I didn't make the truck!

Gothic armour orginated in Germany towards the second half of the 15th century. It is characterised by spikeyness, fluting and punch & filework.

This style has it's counterpart in Milanese or Italian armour, which is characterized by smooth surfaces and round and robust forms.

A closeup of the breastplate showing the punch and filework. The steel discs are rondelles and they protect the arm pit.
